Step One: Recognize and Admit that you are a sinner.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23)

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" (Romans 3:10)

The issue is "righteousness"! If you are counting on your own righteousness to save you, you will be lost, for the Bible declares that our own righteousness is like "filthy rags" before God. We need His righteousness instead. How do we get it?

Step Two: Understand that there is a penalty for sin that all must pay.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

The Bible speaks of two "deaths": one is physical death, and the other is spiritual death, which is the "second death" found in Revelation 20:14,15:

"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

But the "good news" is that eternal life is a "free gift". How do we receive that gift?

Step Three: Understand that God had a plan to save sinners from hell, and that this plan involved sending His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die to pay for your sins.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Step Four: Believe (trust in) and Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation...For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord SHALL BE SAVED." Romans 10:9,10, 13

Do we pick up the telephone and dial heaven? Of course not!

Do we have to climb mountains and shout at the top of our lungs? Of course not!

Don't juggle with the issue of where you will spend eternity. Get it settled at once, before you leave this page.
